Good morning daughters of the great King.
I am sure we all understand the importance of living a life of Holiness and one that glorifies God. However, as this is what God will have us do today, I want to encourage us to pray powerfully with understanding.
God is a Holy and perfect God
The Bible makes us understand that God is Holy. The book of 1 Samuel 2:2 tells us “there is none holy as the Lord”, also in the book of Exodus 3:5, We got a foretaste of God’s holiness when he instructed Moses to take off his sandals because he was on holy ground-‘Do not approach any closer! Take your sandals off your feet, for the place you are standing is holy ground” these are few of the many ways, we know God dwells and lives in Holiness.
What does it mean to be Holy?
It means to be distinct, to be different from others. It means you are chosen by God and governed by his principles. Think of the children of Israel whom God called his people, he instructed them in the book of Leviticus 11 and 19 to be Holy, by giving them specific regulations by which they must be distinct from other nations.
Why? Simply because Israel is God Chosen nation, set apart for glory and called for a higher purpose. Out of the tribe of Israel his only son, our Lord Jesus Christ was born. Even when the children of Israel turned away from God and abandon, he said to them if he was to heal their land, then they must turn away from their sinful ways. In the book of 2 chronicles 7:14 he said to them- If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. This re-emphasizes the stipulated laws he laid down for the nation of Israel in order for them to enjoy his presence and for them to receive his blessings.
When We examine the lives of the people he chose for one assignment or another, to name a few father Abraham, Noah, Job, Nehemiah, Joseph (Father of Jesus), Mary (Mother of Jesus), you would see that they were people who lived by a certain Godly standard and principle and the bible recorded they were just and people of integrity. He also chose people who did not meet his standard, however, they must first accept him and be ready to be governed by him, and one of such was Paul the Apostle.
This same principles and standard still applies till this day, we are a chosen generation, set apart for his Marvelous works. We are to come to a place where we seek him alone, and yield our desires to him alone.
As I mentioned a few days ago, when I asked him to reveal who should coordinate the next session. He said “we cannot proceed” unless we are all in one accord, praying and fasting together and seek him in spirit and in truth. He demands that We let go of old habits such as gossips, sexual immoralities, lies, covetousness, etc.
Today as we wait and pray, I encourage us all to ask the Holy Spirit to help us identify areas where we might not be living to his standard, and make a commitment to live right.
Apostle Paul wrote that as believers we are to conform to the image of Christ by the help of the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Holy Spirit includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. It is impossible for us to reach perfection because we are flesh. However, God has made provision for our sin. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9.
In pursuit of holiness, we must daily confess and forsake sin. Remember, the Holy Spirit is in direct Contrast with the acts of the sinful nature. If truly we are in Christ, then we have the assurance of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, and we have the power to conquer the acts of the sinful nature.
When Jesus taught his disciples to pray our daily prayer, he asked that they ask for forgiveness of sin daily. Therefore today can we do the following?
• Ask Jesus to come into your life completely, re-dictate your life to him (Our adversary the devil is an accuser, but Jesus has condemned him)
• Ask Jesus to make your heart his home forever.
• Ask for forgiveness of sins that you know nothing about but may hinder you from fulfilling your purpose in life. Ask God to purify you from every generation’s curse that may affect your life in any way by the blood of Jesus Christ. (The Blood will be a sign for you on the houses. When I see the blood, I will pass over)-Exodus 12: 13
• Ask for the grace to live a sin free live. Shall we continue in sin and ask for grace to abound, God forbid-Romans 6:1-2
• Ask for the Holy Spirit to come and abide in you forever, to teach you and counsel you. To always quicken your mortal body when you want to step out of God’s will-1 Peter 1:13. In Jesus Mighty name. (Amen)
May his presence abide with us today as we wait on him. Please send in more scriptures and prayers as the Lord directs you. Shalom.
