Bible Text: 1 Samuel 30:6, Ephesians 6:10
Good morning beloved,
I just want to remind each one of you that God, our father loves you dearly and he is always concerned about our wellbeing here on earth.
As I sought the Lord yesterday with regards to the word to share with you. I was led to pray in the spirit and then I got the revelation for the topic. The first word I heard was ‘Encourage’ then he said ‘my daughters need to be encouraged’. Then as I prayed further, God gave me this bible verse in the book of 1 Samuel 30:6 ‘And David encouraged himself in the Lord’. Instantly, I was able to connect with the word. Coincidentally, a similar topic was discussed in church this week and for the past week God himself had been encouraging and strengthening me in different areas of my life, so I understood clearly his reason for me to share with you all. And honestly we all need to be encouraged from time to time, it helps us to cope better with the issues we experience and gives us a sense that we are never alone, especially if we are able to find encouragement from God or from his word. I believe if we can find strength to meditate on his word and key into what he is saying we would not have to carry the burden that so overwhelms us alone.
Going back to the Scripture we read above, some of you may ask the question especially for those who may not be familiar with the story, Why did David, mighty David needed to encourage himself in the Lord?
The simple simple truth is that as long as we are in this world, we will face challenges some small, some not so small and sometimes these challenges might be beyond what we can cope with and we will require the support from others or as Christians, we require and seek divine intervention from God.
David was at a very low point in his life at the time, in fact at the point he prayed to God,his close friends and Allies had thought and attempted to stone him to death (Please read 1 Samuel 30:1-18). The bible tells us that David was greatly distressed that it took the power of prayer and God to strengthen him to forge ahead. What I love about the man David is how he always consult God no matter the situation. In the face of adversary and death, he called upon God who he knew Could rescue and bring him deliverance and victory. He trusted God so much and relied on him for everything! David is a man worthy of emulation and as Christians, if we must live a victorious life we must also learn to be totally dependent on the one who holds our life manual. We are to find strength in the arms of the loving father who is able to do all things. The bible tells us that the joy of the Lord is my strength (Nehemiah 8:10). The Bible was clear on this, the Joy of the Lord, not of my husband or children or friends, it is the Joy of the Lord, the creator. Our first call when issues arise should not be to our close friend (bff) or even relatives, we are to sought God first. He is the way, truth and life (John 14:6) and without his help we just can not do anything.
Last week I shared with my sister, how I have learnt to depend totally on God even for the seemingly unnecessary things such as going into a particular store or calling someone. I have also learnt that timing is very important in the kingdom. There are times and seasons for everything. Even when a prophesy comes to us, sometimes they don’t happen instantly but they often do come to pass in God’s own time. And most importantly I have learnt that It is okay to ‘Spiritualize’ everything. We must seek our answers from God and ask the Holy Spirit for help us. You must learn to be totally depended on God alone for your happiness, success, children, husband, family, and job. Seek his mind about everything. Even in moment of weakness, trials, delay, just trust and continue to wait upon him, remembering that though it tarry it will sure come to pass what the Lord has spoken concerning you. Keep speaking and declaring prophetically that God will bring to pass all he has said concerning you.
My message this morning is a very simple and straight forward one built God has sent this word to build up someone today. He said I should tell you to be encouraged no matter the situation you are presently going through. He is aware of it and he will bring you to victory.
The Lord makes all things beautiful in his own time, and as I said above ‘time is key in the kingdom. God’s time and not yours or mine-(Ecclesiaties 3:11).
This morning, God want me to reassure you that whatever prophesy or word that God has spoken concerning you will certainly come to pass. It is his will that we prosper and live abundantly. The Joy of our salvation is that we are entitled to certain benefits, we have power to dominate and subdue the earth. We are empowered to take up territories, multiply and inherit good things from above. Therefore, no good thing will he withhold from us (Genesis 1:28). However, we must learn to trust and wait for his appointed time. When you study the bible closely, you will see how time is of essence; in the case of Abraham and Sarah, God remembered them at the appointed time, same for Moses in the ark, God, David also, at the appointed he became a king even though he had been anointed as a young boy. God knows better than we do, he knows the right time to bless you. Forget all that you see around you, people are making it, getting all they need and it seem you are alone, but you must remember that you are peculiar, chosen for a divine purpose and that your own time and season will come. Remember God is not a man that he should lie, neither is he the son of man that he should repent (Numbers 23:19). The vision is for an appointed time and all that has been said concerning you will come to pass. Oh you might say I have heard this before but I am still waiting, God will come through, he surely will. This is another reminder that you are closer than you think.
Be encouraged beloved. Let not your hearts be troubled, God reserves the best for his children and trust me when he comes through for you, he makes you to forget all the pain and the long periods you waited for- Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. -Isaiah 54:4
This morning If you are like David or even I myself and you need to be encouraged, please find you strength in the arms and in the presence of the loving almighty God-And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. -1 Samuel 30:6!
Give your life completely to him, put on the full armour of God, as we were learnt last week and stand strong knowing he that as promised is faithful to bring it to pass. Be righteous in all your ways, set yourself apart from the world and you will surely see his glory.
Finally sisters, Again I encourage you to be strong in the Lord thy God and in the power of his might (Ephesians 6:10).
Please let your praise be greater than your request today. Worship Worship and more worship.
Read Psalm 18 to know the power of God and how he delivers his children.
-Thank God for his faithfulness and for his mercy that endureth forever
-Thank God who causes us to triumph always.
-Ask him to forgive all your sins and iniquities
-Ask for angelic assistance to help take any form of delay out of your way.
-Ask to be aligned with God and ask for grace to live righteously.
Finally, thank him for what he has done and what he has in store.
And having done all this, wait for the manifestation and testimony.
This year won’t pass you by in Jesus name. Amen. Shalom.
