Renew, Reawake and Refresh

Good morning beloved…..I welcome you all by the grace of God to the best year you have ever lived, this year would be amazing and the grace of God would make that certain in Jesus name.

From the minute I was told I would be leading today, the Holy Spirit started leading to the same topic area ‘renewal’ ‘reawakening’ ‘refreshing’… I’m sure u get the gist. I haven’t really had the time to fine tune this and it’s my first day back at work in 2 weeks so in a hurry.

READING: 2 Chronicles 29:1-11

As we wait on the Lord in prayers today, please be open minded for him to renew our spirits afresh like only he can…

When we think renewal most times, by default we think to be reinvigorated reenergised and the likes but this time let’s think of it as having to do with two things.

First, reawakening and rediscovering identity and second, a galvanized sense of mission and practice.

When are we the most ourselves, filled with the most joy and the best version of ourselves? This forms a great part of our identity. For most, you may find that even when you are with your spouse, although an unfair comparison it’s incomparable to being alone doing something you love and just feeling the presence of God just worshiping and truly fellowshiping with God… I recently realised that my quiet times are one of my best moments because worshipping God is the reason I was created and writing this, it feels like one of my identities in Christ… a worshipper.

How often in life do we review our Christ given purpose/ calling / mission and refine our practices to make sure we are on the right path to fulfilling our mission? For most, our mission is a factor of our identity in Christ and
Sometimes We hear God telling us to adopt new practices, change some, improve some and stop others….

I believe as we start this year God wants us to give this topic area some in depth thoughts today while we wait on him and hear him speak to our hearts individually and as a group. What is your identity and is your identity still alive and springing fruit? Are you fulfilling your mission in Christ?

I believe we are going to get an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our lives today, fresh anointing and indeed a spirit filled renewal.
I also believe we would hear from God during the course of today so by all means, if God gives u a message please share with us and others.

What we should note though from 2 Chronicles 29:1-11 is:

Spiritual renewal comes through commitment and cleansing, and expresses itself in celebration.

That said, I’d like us to consecrate our heart today as we fellowship, make a commitment between ourselves and God and at the end of the day celebrate with thanksgiving and congratulatory messages.

I’d also like to share some scriptures for us to meditate on

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here! Isaiah 43:19

Ephesians 4:22-24 – You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Colossians 3:9-10 – Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge the image of its Creator.

Psalm 51:10 – Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Romans 12:2 – Do not conform to the parer of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Titus 3:5-6 – He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Sprit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Prayer Points:
Let’s thank God for the great things he would do for us.

Let’s ask for forgiveness of sins and cleansing of our hearts and bodies

Let’s begin to thank God for his presence amongst us.

Let’s ask God to help us discover our identity in him where ever we are lost.

Let’s ask God for a clear indication of our mission as a group and as individuals.

Let’s ask God for a fresh anointing upon us to live our identity in him into fulfilment of our mission.

Let’s ask God for an outpouring of the spirit upon each an everyone of us

Let’s ask God for the grace to live purposefully for him, in our identity in Christ and to fulfil the mission he has given us for 2018

Let’s ask God for the grace to hear him speak to us clearly this year

May all our prayers be answered in Jesus name and may we be fully equipped with renewed spirit for our mission this year in Jesus nameπŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½

I encourage us to keep pressing on this year… God always does his part to draw us close but let’s just keep pressing and keep it moving…
