Entering into God’s rest

Bible Text: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7

Good morning beloved, I pray that your heart will be opened today to receive what the Holy Spirit his saying to you.

God’s desire for his children is a life of peace and abundance, he says ‘I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly’. -John 10:10b. He is not the author of confusion and he came to restore peace, love and hope to those who will believe in him.

One of the greatest weapon the enemy uses against the children of God is fear. He knows that once he can make you afraid, he has won the battle. He clouds the mind with worry, anxiety, doubt, and logical/illogical reasons as to why things are the way they are. He makes small issues appear big and tell lies that there is no way out. We must stand against this and resist him in the name of Jesus. Our first call as children of God should always be to heaven. Oftentimes we call people, friends, or even pastor when we should take it to God first.

We must learn to cultivate the habit of making prayer our first response no matter the  situation. Our bible text today states ‘Be anxious for nothing (over everything, big, small, or mighty) but by prayer and supplication make your request know. In the place of prayer you will find rest for your soul and God will give the wisdom and direction you need to be victorious.

How do you enter into God’s rest?

-Hand it over to him- No matter how small or big. Commit it to God, our Lord Jesus Christ’s final word on the cross was Father into your hands I commit my spirit (Luke 23:46), the Psalmist also said the same thing (Psalm 31:5). Last week Bukola shared with us on the importance of handing it to God. If we must enjoy rest and the life of abundance we have been promised we must hand every situation to God. May we not be tossed around by the evil one.

-Believe that God’s plan will prevail-  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. -Hebrews 11:6, and the book of Jeremiah 29:11 tells us his plan for our lives are of good, not of evil and only him alone can bring us the good report we hope for.

-Erase logics and reasoning- Oh my boss will never like me, it’s too late, it would have been better if it was day, or I could never be healed, it’s all lies- The ways of God often do not make sense to us- But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; -1 Corinthians 1:27. The manner God does often defiles logic- Mary and the birth of Jesus Christ, Moses and the Red Sea, David and Goliath, Lazarus and etc.. Our God is a God of impossibility (Luke 1:37). God is the only wise God and we can’t win spiritual battle with human weapon- For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: -2 Corinthians 10:3 ( Don’t ever think your battles are against human. Your boss at work is not the reason for the discomfort as children of God. It is the forces that are not seen, and only God and in the name of Jesus can we defeat them. Don’t fight people in the physical, go on your knees). (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; -And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. -2 Corinthians 10:4-6

-Be spirit filled- In order to understand the ways of God you must be spiritual. Spend time with God, obey him, be holy for he is holy, and study the word.We understand God is a spirit and we worship and understand him in the spirit. We don’t examine things with human eyes. The Bible teaches us that-  the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. -1 Corinthians 2:14. But a spiritual man understands the ways of God because he has the spirit and knows the mind of God- But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. -1 Corinthians 2:15. There is always a reason for everything and God causes all things to work out for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose.

-Know the word of God- for everything you are experiencing or will encounter, there is a word of God in the Bible for it. Write a list and find scriptures to match them. You build your faith in God through the word- So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God- Romans 10:17. The word is your greatest weapon to defeat the enemy- And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: -Ephesians 6:17. Who goes to battle and leave their weapon at home? Sisters we must cultivate the habit of studying the word day and night as we have been commanded.

Finally, ask for the grace not to worry, doubt, or fear. Those who must enter into his rest must make up their mind to erase these things. They are the enemy’s fierce weapon of warfare. We must resist and surrender to God. Goliath with his height and his sophisticated physical weapon of war, was defeated by the young David with prayer to God, a stone and sling shot. Even in the most difficult storm of life we must believe and trust him to save us. Whatever the situation you are facing say Lord Jesus unto you I commit this issues and I ask for grace to trust you. Then enter into rest by praising God for what he has done. He will direct you and guide you until he gives you absolute victory in Jesus name- Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. -1 Peter 5:7

Let us pray….

God, thank you for your love and mercy. (Psalm 136)

Thank you Lord Jesus for the salvation of my soul. (Ephesians 2:8)

Thank you for the grace to know you as Lord and king. (1 Corinthians 15:10)

I know that you love me but I am also a sinner saved by grace, father please forgive all my sins and iniquity in Jesus. (Hebrews 8:12)

Cleanse and purify my heart oh God(Psalm 51:10). Help me to choose the right thoughts from today and forever in Jesus mighty name (Philippians 4:8)

Declaration- I put all my hope in you today and I enter into your rest in the name of Jesus. I erase every fear, doubt and unbelief over every word you have spoken concerning me by the blood of Jesus. I stand knowing and believing that you will give me the good desires of my heart and bring me to expected end according to your word concerning me in the book of Jeremiah 29:11 in Jesus name. Today, I stand and resist every word and lies that the enemy has spoken over (mention the situation) in Jesus name. I rebuke that old ugly serpent the devil and his kingdom over my life, husband, children, brothers, sisters, mother, father, friends, and every member of the daughters of the king today in Jesus mighty name. Jesus Christ called you the devil a liar and there is no truth in you, I destroy your power over my life, you cannot control me because you are not the shepherd of my soul. Jesus Christ is my good shepherd and he leads me into his rest today in Jesus name. Amen (Revelations 12:11)

Thank you Jesus for this grace, peace and restful season. Now thanks be unto God and the father of our Lord Jesus Christ who leads us into victory and rest always. (2 Corinthians 2:14).

Praise God. Hallelujah
